Alvarez faces competition from Tampa Bay Rays infielder Junior Caminero and Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. for the honor, with the winner scheduled to be announced on November 12 on MLB Network.

Alvarez captured the AL batting title with a .316 average while also leading the league in on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS. He posted career highs with 42 home runs and 106 RBIs, becoming just the third player since 1970 to win an AL batting title while hitting at least 40 home runs.
