Stanley Cup champion Ben Hutton joins New York on a professional tryout, seeking to parlay a decade of blue-line reliability into a roster spot with his sixth franchise.

The New York Islanders announced Monday that they have signed veteran defenseman Ben Hutton to a professional tryout contract. The 33-year-old Stanley Cup champion is seeking to secure a roster spot with his sixth NHL franchise after spending the last five seasons with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Hutton has played 575 career NHL games across stints with the Canucks, Kings, Ducks, Maple Leafs, and Golden Knights. Last season with Vegas, he scored six goals and totaled 15 points in 55 regular-season games, also playing in seven playoff contests.
