Sometimes it's the choices not made that pan out in the years that follow…

Dodge is returning to the NASCAR Cup Series after NASCAR delayed transitioning to electric or hybrid platforms, choosing instead to keep current internal combustion regulations through at least 2028. Dodge's approved car body is scheduled for an unveiling at Pensacola's Snowball Derby in December, with current reporting suggesting AJ Allmendinger and Ty Dillon will drive cars utilizing Earnhardt Childress Racing Engines next season.
NASCAR Event Management president John Probst explained that avoiding a rushed shift into electrification allowed Stellantis to align its 'HEMI is Back' campaign with the series. Probst indicated that discussions regarding new engine regulations are now targeting 2030 to 2032, giving Dodge little incentive to develop a bespoke engine immediately.
