Giancarlo Stanton endured an extremely frustrating 2026 season, as multiple injury setbacks severely limited his playing time.

New York Yankees fans voiced significant frustration online following reports regarding the club's plan to evaluate slugger Giancarlo Stanton during Spring Training. Citing reporter Jack Curry, insider Darius Glover noted that Stanton will be brought into camp to assess his physical capabilities after multiple injury setbacks disrupted his 2026 campaign. Many supporters strongly criticized the organization's decision to retain the veteran rather than release him.
Despite fan discontent, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman stated the team intends to keep Stanton on the roster for next season. Cashman explained to MLB.com that Stanton finished the year healthy and emphasized his leadership, noting that manager Aaron Boone hopes to deploy a consistent, healthy version of the designated hitter.
