The captain has thrown his support behind his teammate.

Sydney Roosters captain James Tedesco has urged teammate Sam Walker to fulfill the final year of his contract with the club in 2027. Walker's future remains uncertain after the Roosters recently withdrew a long-term contract extension offer following stalled negotiations. Both players are currently in camp representing Australia at the Rugby League World Cup.
Tedesco stated that Walker has taken the contract controversy in stride despite facing criticism. While Walker has recently been linked to the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, Tedesco expressed strong confidence in young playmakers Hugo Savala and Toby Rodwell to guide the Roosters' halves in the future if Walker departs.
