The star playmaker hit the ice in a non-contact jersey today, signaling a major step forward for an Isles lineup currently battling a wave of injuries.

New York Islanders forward Mathew Barzal rejoined his team on the ice for practice in East Meadow, New York, on November 4, 2026. Barzal participated in a non-contact jersey, marking his first practice appearance of the season as he works his way back from inflammation in his left knee.
While there is currently no set timetable for Barzal's return to game action, his return to skating is considered a significant progression. Forward Matias Maccelli and defenseman Ryan Pulock also took part in the skate wearing non-contact jerseys.
