The Athletics announced on Wednesday that they have hired Milwaukee Brewers executive Cam Castro as their new General Manager. The move represents the first major front office addition under newly appointed President of Baseball Operations Taylor Smith, placing Castro as the organization's second-in-command.
Castro joins the franchise after spending seven years with the Brewers, where he rose from minor league pitching coach to vice president of player development. Connor Ashford writes that Castro's hiring emphasizes the Athletics' commitment to fixing and prioritizing their pitching development.
