Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Alex Anzalone was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week Eight following a standout performance in a 16-0 shutout against the Atlanta Falcons. Anzalone intercepted quarterback Michael Penix twice in Falcons territory, while also recording six tackles and a tackle for loss.
The honor marks the first Player of the Week award of Anzalone's 10-year NFL career, as well as the first for any Buccaneers player this season. The victory featured the NFL's first shutout of the season, with Tampa Bay holding Atlanta to 224 total yards and stopping all 12 Falcons third-down conversion attempts.
