The Vancouver Canucks suffered their third consecutive defeat on Tuesday night, falling 5-4 to the Anaheim Ducks at Rogers Arena. Jake DeBrusk scored two third-period goals after a nine-game drought, while Vancouver's top line alongside Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser controlled 78.64% of expected goals at five-on-five. However, special teams proved costly for the Canucks as Anaheim converted three power-play goals on just four shots.
Canucks goaltender Kevin Lankinen struggled on the penalty kill, stopping only 17 of 22 total shots and allowing five goals against 2.42 expected goals. In addition to conceding three power-play markers, Vancouver surrendered a shorthanded goal to Leo Carlsson. Jacob Quillan also made an impact in the loss, engaging in two fights while posting strong underlying defensive metrics.
