Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Alex Anzalone was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week following his standout display in a 16-0 shutout against the Atlanta Falcons. Anzalone intercepted Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. twice in the first quarter and added six tackles, including one for a loss, to lead Tampa Bay's dominant defensive effort.
The honor marks the first weekly award of Anzalone's 10-year NFL career and the first for a Buccaneers player this season. Signed by Tampa Bay in March, he has totaled 42 tackles and an NFL linebacker-leading three interceptions through eight games.
