Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback and personnel executive Doug Williams has been named one of five contributor category finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2027. Selected from an original group of 42 candidates, Williams is being evaluated alongside Ralph Hay, Robert Kraft, Virginia McCaskey, and John Wooten. The Hall's Contributor Subcommittee will meet virtually on November 17 to select one finalist for the full committee's consideration.
Williams originally entered the NFL as Tampa Bay's first-round draft pick in 1978, leading the team to three playoff berths and an NFC Championship Game. He later made history with Washington by becoming the first Black starting quarterback to win a Super Bowl, earning MVP honors in Super Bowl XXII. Williams later returned to Tampa Bay from 2004 to 2010, serving in executive and scouting capacities.
