A lethal five-man unit and creative tactical wrinkles have transformed Anaheim’s man-advantage from a league-wide liability into a historic, league-leading force through dynamic chemistry and unpredictable entries.

The Anaheim Ducks boast the NHL's top-ranked power play through 15 games of the 2026-27 season, converting on 19 of 50 opportunities for a 38.0% success rate. Under assistant coach Jay Woodcroft, the Ducks transitioned away from their previous system of balanced ice time to deploy a dedicated top unit. The unit features Jackson LaCombe, Leo Carlsson, Cutter Gauthier, Beckett Sennecke, and Mikael Granlund.
According to The Hockey News, the unit's success stems from structural fluidity, dynamic entries, and position-swapping in the offensive zone. The power play scored on 12 of its last 16 opportunities, including a 3-for-3 performance in a 5-4 win against the Vancouver Canucks.
