What once felt like a trade the Oilers couldn't wait to make, Tristan Jarry has become a goalie the Oilers can't afford to get rid of.

NHL Trade Talk argues that Edmonton Oilers goaltender Tristan Jarry has quickly shifted from an expendable contract to a vital starter the team can no longer afford to trade. After stepping into the starting role due to an injury to Devon Levi, Jarry delivered three consecutive strong performances, including back-to-back shutouts and stopping 73 of his last 76 shots faced.
Jarry's recent play included a 31-save effort in a 4-3 shootout defeat against the New Jersey Devils. While analysts such as Jack Nessel of Daily Faceoff previously noted Jarry's $5.3 million cap hit might require sweeteners to move, the writer suggests his current form makes an Edmonton trade highly improbable.
