The Athletics have hired Cam Castro as their new general manager, The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported via X on Wednesday.

The Athletics have hired Cam Castro away from the Milwaukee Brewers to serve as their new general manager, according to a report by The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. Castro will serve under the franchise's new president of baseball operations, Taylor Smith, as the front office aims to rebuild after a 64-98 campaign in 2026.
Fans on social media largely interpreted the hire as an attempt to replicate Milwaukee's player development success. Castro, who joined the Brewers in 2019 and rose to vice president, expressed his gratitude to owner John Fisher and stated he looks forward to developing the next chapter of the organization.
