An NFL insider thinks the Minnesota Vikings should at least make a call before the trade deadline, even if the Chargers aren't likely to listen on Justin Herbert.

NFL insider Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated suggested the Minnesota Vikings should attempt to trade for Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert before the November 10 trade deadline. Breer proposed offering three first-round picks to test the winless Chargers, even though Los Angeles is not expected to make the quarterback available. The suggestion follows Minnesota's 19-15 loss to the Detroit Lions, which left the Vikings at 6-1 despite quarterback struggles.
Breer noted Herbert's scheme familiarity under offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel and the offensive potential alongside receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. However, major obstacles include Herbert's five-year, $262.5 million contract, a $46.3 million cap hit for 2026 against Minnesota's estimated $5.84 million in cap room, and Herbert's no-trade clause. Herbert has struggled in 2026 with an NFL-leading 10 interceptions for the 0-7 Chargers.
