Newcastle and Kangaroos star Best has opened up on his contract dealings with Peter O’Sullivan before his departure to Brisbane.
Bradman Best revealed he felt "disrespected" by former Newcastle Knights recruitment boss Peter O'Sullivan during initial contract discussions. Best explained that negotiations stalled because calls went unanswered and scheduled meetings fell through before O'Sullivan departed to join the Brisbane Broncos. Best, who is currently representing Australia at the World Cup, confirmed he holds no personal grudge and would still shake O'Sullivan's hand.
The Knights have offered Best a three-year contract worth approximately $1 million per season with potential fourth-year options. Best noted his loyalties remain with Newcastle, especially after his brother Baxter signed with the club, but he acknowledged transfer interest from the Parramatta Eels and coach Jason Ryles.
