Oliver Bearman’s extension with Haas for 2027 seemed like a formality, but the two parties have hit a stumbling block in negotiations. The 21-year-old is…

Oliver Bearman has reportedly asked Ferrari for a guaranteed race seat by 2028 or he will have the option to terminate his contract. The 21-year-old British driver is currently on loan from Ferrari to Haas for the 2026 season. While Bearman is open to staying with Haas for 2027, contract extension negotiations have stalled over seeking firm assurances regarding his future pathway to Maranello.
Ferrari's current lineup features Charles Leclerc on a long-term deal and Lewis Hamilton under contract until 2028. With Hamilton in competitive form, Bearman faces a lack of immediate openings at Ferrari. Outside interest reportedly includes Red Bull's Laurent Mekies, while former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has suggested the young driver carve out his own independent path in Formula 1.
