Title sponsor Skoda threatens to pull support; Strauss, Nokian Tyres and AJ Furniture considering similar actions…

Major ice hockey world championship sponsors, including Czech automaker Skoda and workwear company Strauss, are threatening to pull financial support and logo exposure following a Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling that allows Russian hockey players to return to international competition. Title sponsor Skoda stated it would reassess its multi-decade involvement if Russia participates in next year's tournament, while partners Nokian Tyres and AJ Furniture also questioned their commitments.
The International Ice Hockey Federation acknowledged the pushback, stating it strongly disagrees with the CAS ruling and highlighting severe logistical, visa, and security challenges. Several national federations—including Sweden, Finland, Latvia, and the Czech Republic—have pledged not to play against Russia, while Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced Russian teams will not be allowed to enter Canada for the upcoming World Junior Championship.
