One of the few silver linings to the Brooklyn Nets’ 1-6 start was the supposedly easier stretch of opponents awaiting them after it. As Jayson Tatum game-winners, injuries and second half collapses have all hacked away at early season morale…

The Brooklyn Nets earned their first home victory of the season by defeating the Charlotte Hornets 114-104. Michael Porter Jr. led the Nets with 26 points and 10 rebounds, while Julius Randle added 22 points. Brooklyn overcame a seven-point halftime deficit with a strong second half, outscoring Charlotte in the final period behind clutch perimeter shooting from Porter Jr. and defensive adjustments.
Rookie Mikel Brown Jr. contributed a career-high 18 points off the bench, and Danny Wolf added 12 points after entering the rotation due to Noah Clowney leaving with right knee soreness. Center Day'Ron Sharpe recorded a career-high eight assists to go along with five rebounds. Charlotte was paced by Grayson Allen, who scored 20 first-half points, but struggled from the field late.
