Albert Pujols, a former three-time National League MVP with 703 career home runs, was on track for a routine interview. One report was enough to turn Houston Astros fans against the Hall of Fame-bound slugger within hours. In a post…
Houston Astros fans reacted negatively to reports that former slugger Albert Pujols is interviewing for the club's open managerial position. According to The Athletic, Pujols is set to meet with the team as part of a wider search following the October dismissal of Joe Espada. Supporters voiced intense frustration online regarding the prospective appointment.
Fans pointed to Pujols' lack of Major League managing experience and his historic rivalry with Houston, against whom he hit 62 home runs during his playing career. The interview was arranged by Astros general manager Randy Flores, who previously won the 2006 World Series alongside Pujols as teammates with the St. Louis Cardinals.
