Kim Hellberg is confident his Middlesbrough side can function without Will Lankshear, claiming it was not the key factor in the defeat at Wrexham…
Middlesbrough manager Kim Hellberg denied that the absence of injured striker Will Lankshear was the primary reason for his side's 2-0 defeat to Wrexham. Boro failed to score for the first time this season and suffered their first Championship loss since August, managing only two shots on target despite dominating possession.
Lankshear missed the match due to a muscular injury sustained against Charlton Athletic, having scored 13 goals in 13 games. Hellberg explained that Boro lacked overall sharpness regardless of who played, while confirming he hopes the forward will return for Saturday's clash against Watford.
