Newcastle councillors agreed to grant Kevin Keegan the Freedom of the City on Wednesday night, in honour of the NUFC hero's remarkable contribution to life on Tyneside…

Former Newcastle United player and manager Kevin Keegan has been posthumously awarded the Freedom of the City of Newcastle. Keegan, who passed away earlier this year at age 75 following a battle with cancer, is the first person to ever receive Newcastle's highest civic honor posthumously.
Keegan joined the Magpies as a player in 1982, scoring 48 goals in 78 games, and later managed the famous "Entertainers" side after returning in 1992. Newcastle City Council confirmed plans were initiated in June before his death in July.
