The Owls’ new manager was in-demand after leaving Stockport County in the summer…

New Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Challinor revealed he had other opportunities to return to football management before accepting the position with the Owls. The 51-year-old was officially appointed on Monday on a three-and-a-half-year contract after leaving Stockport County in the summer. His first game in charge of Sheffield Wednesday will be an FA Cup first-round tie against League Two side Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park on Sunday.
Challinor, who has achieved seven promotions in his managerial career, explained that he was in a fortunate position to remain selective about his next role. He noted that while his natural progression was to seek a Championship post, Sheffield Wednesday presented the ideal fit due to the club's extensive history, fan base, and long-term growth potential.
