Jacob deGrom is under contract with the Texas Rangers, and he has already said no to a trade.

SNY analyst Anthony DiComo suggested the New York Mets could pitch a return to pitcher Jacob deGrom by emphasizing his Hall of Fame legacy. DiComo argued that rejoining the Mets could bolster deGrom's borderline Hall of Fame resume and lead to having his jersey number retired at Citi Field, should the Texas Rangers enter a rebuild.
deGrom previously declined to waive his no-trade clause before the trade deadline and remains under contract with the Rangers, who missed the postseason by one game. Rangers baseball operations chief Chris Young noted the team aims to get younger, while deGrom is owed $37 million in 2027.
