Rookie point guard Kingston Flemings delivered an immediate spark in his first career NBA start, helping guide the Atlanta Hawks to a 120-105 road victory over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night. The 19-year-old rookie scored 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting while recording four assists and three rebounds in 23 minutes of action.
Flemings was promoted to the starting lineup after veteran guard CJ McCollum approached head coach Quin Snyder before tip-off to suggest the rookie start to find an early rhythm. Embracing his new reserve role, McCollum contributed 15 points in 25 minutes off the bench as Atlanta secured the commanding win.
