The Story in 60 Seconds

Lakers insider Jovan Buha estimates there is a 65% chance the Los Angeles Lakers will complete a trade during the 2026-27 season. Speaking on his podcast, Buha argued that failing to improve the roster during Luka Doncic's prime would be negligent, particularly given the Slovenian star's spectacular early-season form where he averaged 38.3 points, eight rebounds, and 8.1 assists over his first seven games.

Buha identified backup center and starting small forward as areas needing improvement, specifically to relieve center Walker Kessler. He noted that the most realistic trade window is between late December and the February 11, 2027 trade deadline, following the December 15 date when summer signings become eligible to be moved.
