Kostas Tsimikas admitted that Liverpool deserved to lose following their 3-2 Champions League defeat against Fenerbahce in Istanbul on Wednesday. Speaking to UEFA.com, the Greek defender acknowledged that the team defended poorly and failed to mark properly after conceding goals. Liverpool held the lead twice during the match through strikes from Trey Nyoni and Alexander Isak, but Dirk Kuyt's side responded each time before securing the victory.
Fenerbahce's goals came from a Mason Greenwood free kick, Archie Brown, and a 79th-minute header by Vedat Muriqi. The loss leaves Liverpool having conceded 10 goals in four European fixtures this campaign. Tsimikas endured a difficult outing against Greenwood and was substituted for Milos Kerkez in the 75th minute as Liverpool now look ahead to Sunday's clash against Crystal Palace.
