Many will disagree with Will Hardy's approach with Darryn Peterson, but we must remember Jerry Sloan did the same thing with the Utah Jazz two decades prior with Deron Williams!

Utah Jazz head coach Will Hardy has employed an unorthodox strategy with rookie Darryn Peterson, benching him during two overtime sessions that both ended in losses. The J-Notes writer Matt John compares this tactic to former coach Jerry Sloan's handling of rookie Deron Williams, who was made to earn his minutes.
John argues that Hardy wants Peterson to prove he contributes to winning basketball before earning late-game minutes. Although the Jazz have struggled to a 1-7 start this season, John notes that Sloan's tough approach eventually helped lead Utah to the Conference Finals.
