Derby County have had rotten luck with injuries this season and that run is not coming to an end with a fresh blow to Sammie Szmodics.

Derby County forward Sammie Szmodics is set to miss approximately six weeks after requiring surgery on a knee injury. Manager John Eustace confirmed the setback after Szmodics aggravated the problem and limped off in the second half of Tuesday's 4-0 defeat against Norwich City.
The absence of Szmodics delivers a major blow to Derby County, who currently sit 23rd in the Championship table with just seven points from 14 matches. Szmodics is the Rams' joint-top scorer with three league goals alongside Bobby Clark, leaving Eustace to consider options such as Filip Bilbija to fill the attacking midfield role.
