Five players depart the Nationals organization in service of getting the team's 40-man roster down to its cap ahead of the scheduled deadline.

The Washington Nationals announced several roster moves on Monday to reduce their 40-man roster, resulting in five pitchers departing the organization. Left-handers PJ Poulin, Ken Waldichuk, and Richard Lovelady elected free agency after clearing outright waivers. Meanwhile, Mitchell Parker was claimed off waivers by Atlanta, and right-hander Paxton Schultz was claimed by the Cincinnati Reds.
Washington also designated infielder José Tena for assignment to finalize roster trimming. These transactions created space on the 40-man roster to activate right-handed pitcher Matt Waldron and catcher Drew Millas from the 60-day injured list.
