The Ultimate Fighting Championship is waiting for Justin Gaethje to decide whether he will continue fighting, with a potential champion-versus-champion matchup against Alexander Volkanovski among the options.
UFC CEO Dana White is awaiting a decision from lightweight champion Justin Gaethje regarding his fighting future, which could set up a champion-versus-champion bout against Alexander Volkanovski. Gaethje claimed the undisputed 155-pound title against Ilia Topuria at UFC Freedom 250 in June, but he has not yet announced his next plans. White expressed strong openness to granting Volkanovski another lightweight title opportunity.
Speaking on The Jim Rome Show, White stated that officials are in discussions with Gaethje to determine whether he intends to continue his career. Volkanovski has noted that Arman Tsarukyan deserves the next title shot, but he is willing to fight Tsarukyan for a vacant belt if Gaethje chooses to retire.
