The Mets are adding to their hitting department for next season after hiring Johnny Washington to be their co-hitting coach.

The New York Mets are hiring Johnny Washington to serve as their co-hitting coach for the upcoming season, according to SNY MLB Insider Chelsea Janes. Washington will work alongside hitting coach Troy Snitker and assistant hitting coach Rafael Fernandez in New York's hitting department.
The 42-year-old previously served as the Atlanta Braves' minor league hitting coordinator and was the Los Angeles Angels' hitting coach from 2024 to 2025. In New York, he reunites with former Padres manager Andy Green to bolster a Mets offense that finished in the bottom third of most offensive categories last season.
