The Kansas City Royals have hired former San Francisco Giants hitting coach Hunter Mense as their new assistant hitting coach. The Liberty, Missouri native joins the staff following a 2026 season with the Giants under manager Tony Vitello. The move was reported by MLB.com's Mark Feinsand after Kansas City finished the 2026 season with a 69-93 record.
Mense previously spent four seasons as an assistant hitting coach with the Toronto Blue Jays from 2022 to 2025. He will now work alongside Royals hitting coaches Connor Dawson and Marcus Thames, while Alec Zumwalt transitions to senior director of hitting performance.
