The New York Islanders have signed veteran defenseman Ben Hutton to a one-year contract for the remainder of the 2026-27 season following a three-day professional tryout. The 33-year-old blueliner reunites with head coach Pete DeBoer, who previously coached him during the 2021-22 season with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Hutton joins an Islanders defensive unit dealing with multiple absences, including Alex Romanov being sidelined for the season and Ryan Pulock recovering from an upper-body injury. Hutton spent the previous five seasons with the Golden Knights, where he won a Stanley Cup in 2023.
