Sabres goalie Colten Ellis made 28 saves in a 2-1 loss to Ottawa in the first game of a four-game homestand…

The Buffalo Sabres opened a four-game homestand with a 2-1 defeat against the Ottawa Senators. Peyton Krebs scored the lone goal for Buffalo off a Tage Thompson deflection, while goaltender Colten Ellis stopped 28 shots. However, late defensive breakdowns allowed Ottawa's Shane Pinto to tie the game before Michael Amadio netted the game-winning goal on an odd-man rush with 3:09 remaining in regulation.
Following the game, Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff criticized his team's effort, noting they were outworked and outskated. The loss dropped Buffalo into a tie for last place in the Atlantic Division with 17 points. With home scoring averaging just 2.14 goals per game, the team is reportedly searching for offensive reinforcements to provide secondary scoring.
