The Story in 60 Seconds

Former Detroit Red Wings goaltender James Reimer has been placed on waivers by the New York Rangers, according to Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press. The move makes the 38-year-old veteran available to other NHL clubs, and if he goes unclaimed, New York can assign him to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack.

The waiver placement follows a difficult Rangers debut for Reimer on October 26 against the Los Angeles Kings, where he was pulled after allowing three goals on eight shots in the first period. Reimer previously spent the 2023-24 season with Detroit, posting an 11-8-2 record across 25 games before signing with the Buffalo Sabres in 2024.
