Key Things to Know
  • Rennes striker Estéban Lepaul is close to returning from an ankle sprain suffered on October 18.
  • Lepaul is expected to resume training on Thursday or Friday after missing over two weeks.
  • He scored seven Ligue 1 goals for Stade Rennais prior to sustaining the ankle injury.
The Story in 60 Seconds

Stade Rennais striker Estéban Lepaul is nearing a return to action after being sidelined since October 18 with an ankle sprain. According to Ouest-France, the forward is scheduled to resume training on Thursday or Friday following a two-week absence. Lepaul scored seven Ligue 1 goals prior to his injury, missing several domestic and Europa League fixtures during his spell out.

Lepaul remains highly uncertain to feature in Sunday's match against Lille as the coaching staff seeks to avoid a relapse. The player is expected to use the upcoming international break to regain match fitness, which also diminishes his chances of being called up by manager Zinédine Zidane for the French national team.
