This former 33-year-old Toronto Maple Leafs player just signed a new NHL deal amid the latest trade rumblings.

Former Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Ben Hutton has signed a one-year, $900,000 contract with the New York Islanders. The team announced the deal on Thursday, November 5, 2026, just days after the 33-year-old blueliner initially joined the Islanders on a professional tryout (PTO).
The signing coincides with trade speculation surrounding Tampa Bay Lightning star Nikita Kucherov, who has reportedly requested a move. A report from RG.org indicates Kucherov desires to play alongside superstars such as Auston Matthews in a major market, prompting connections between the reigning Hart Trophy winner and the Maple Leafs.
