The Story in 60 Seconds

The Toronto Blue Jays will have a fourth minor league option on right-handed pitcher Jake Bloss, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet. Bloss qualified for an extra option year because he exhausted his initial three options within four professional seasons. This flexibility allows the organization to send him to the minor leagues in 2027 without risking losing him on waivers.

Bloss was originally drafted by the Houston Astros in 2023 before joining Toronto in the Yusei Kikuchi trade. After undergoing UCL surgery in May 2025 and dealing with a teres major strain in 2026, the 25-year-old pitcher has accumulated under 200 total professional innings, making the additional option year valuable for developing him as starting rotation depth in Triple-A.
