Capitals’ annual Hockey Fights Cancer skate features purple mullets, snowballs, and shooting lessons from Ovi’s office: ‘It’s a great feeling inside you’

The Washington Capitals hosted their annual Hockey Fights Cancer skate on Thursday at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. Following practice, players welcomed nearly 30 children undergoing cancer treatment or in remission alongside their families. The attendees were paired with Capitals players for an afternoon of skating, locker room preparation, and shooting lessons led by Alex Ovechkin from his signature left faceoff dot.

Capitals players donned lavender gear and purple mullet wigs while engaging in snowball fights and ice activities with the children. Goaltender Logan Thompson, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Aliaksei Protas, and Ilya Protas joined in the festivities, while injured defenseman Vincent Desharnais spent time on the bench with a participant.
