The Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings are set to meet in Week 9 on Monday Night Football in a rare matchup. The contest features the league's No. 1 offense facing the No. 1 defense based on expected points added (EPA) per play. This marks only the seventh such meeting between top-ranked units since the 2017 season.
According to Chris Trapasso's analysis, recent history shows an even 3-3 split in the previous six matchups since 2017. Looking back to 2001, top offenses hold a slight 10-6 advantage, averaging 25.6 points per game against top-ranked defenses.
