The Story in 60 Seconds

Denver Broncos inside linebacker Alex Singleton has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for October. The NFL announced the honor on Thursday, nearly one year after Singleton was diagnosed with testicular cancer and had successful surgery. Singleton led the entire league with 68 total tackles from Weeks 4 through 8, while also recording five tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, two sacks, and a pass deflection.

Singleton is the first Denver linebacker to win the award since Von Miller in 2021. He currently has 101 total tackles through eight games this season, helping lead Denver to a 4-1 stretch and first place in the AFC West. Singleton was originally diagnosed with cancer in early November 2025 following a routine drug test, underwent surgery, and missed only a single game before returning to the field.
