Man United latest: Avram Glazer makes rare comment as chiefs agree on replacement plan

Manchester United chiefs Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada reportedly plan to pursue a permanent manager rather than an interim solution if Michael Carrick is dismissed, taking a long-term view. Meanwhile, co-chairman Avram Glazer made a rare public statement at a sports investment conference, arguing that the club's commercial power persists without trophies, comparing United to the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys.

Glazer's comments reportedly provoked further backlash among United supporters, who staged protests using balloons and tennis balls during their Champions League comeback win against Roma. Carrick currently retains the backing of the hierarchy ahead of Sunday's fixture against Aston Villa, with manager target Unai Emery expected to sign a contract extension with Villa.
