Former San Francisco 49ers safety Donte Whitner publicly criticized wide receiver Jauan Jennings for rejecting a trade to return to San Francisco. Reporting by Fox Sports' Jay Glazer revealed that the 49ers and the Minnesota Vikings had a deal in place, but Jennings opted against the move, choosing to remain in Minnesota instead.
Speaking on the Grit Code Podcast on November 5, Whitner questioned Jennings' decision, arguing that declining to play alongside quarterback Brock Purdy could jeopardize his career given his low production. Meanwhile, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed to reporters on November 4 that San Francisco had indeed pursued the trade for Jennings.
