It went wrong at Everton, but Frank Lampard has proved he has something

Patric Ridge argues that despite Frank Lampard's eventual sacking by Everton in January 2023, the manager has demonstrated his coaching qualities at Coventry City. While acknowledging that Everton rightly dismissed Lampard to avoid relegation, Ridge highlights how Lampard understood the club's culture and aided in key recruitment, including bringing in James Tarkowski, James Garner, and Amadou Onana alongside Director of Football Kevin Thelwell.

Ahead of Lampard's return to face Everton, Ridge notes that Coventry City has shown resilience in battling for survival after last season's promotion. Ridge emphasizes that despite Coventry losing six league matches so far, notable victories against Sunderland, Newcastle United, and Nottingham Forest show Lampard's adaptability and warrant a positive reception from Everton supporters.
