England is facing a battle over the international future of Manchester United winger Shea Lacey, who qualifies for the Republic of Ireland through his father. Republic of Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrimsson acknowledged an interest in Lacey's eligibility following the 19-year-old's impressive form at club level, which included assisting Matheus Cunha's winning goal in a 3-2 Champions League comeback against Roma.
Lacey has represented England across youth levels from Under-15 to Under-20 and is expected to join the Under-20 squad for upcoming Elite League fixtures against Czechia and Portugal. Michael Carrick praised Lacey's recent attacking and defensive contributions, with the teenager aiming to feature again when Manchester United host Aston Villa on Sunday.
