The Toronto Blue Jays made an Anthony Santander announcement following his recently deleted Instagram posts.
The Toronto Blue Jays issued a statement addressing controversial, now-deleted Instagram posts shared by outfielder Anthony Santander. A team spokesperson emphasized that baseball is for everyone and stated that individual comments do not reflect the organization's values and beliefs after Santander reportedly shared videos containing Islamophobic rhetoric.
Santander missed the entire 2026 regular season due to injury while splitting time between rehabilitation and the injured list. The outfielder is scheduled to earn $19.2 million in 2027 and holds a player opt-out before the remaining three years of his contract.
