This former Canucks defenseman has finally landed a contract for the season after spending several months on the free agent market.

The New York Islanders have signed former Vancouver Canucks defenseman Ben Hutton to a one-year contract for the remainder of the 2026-27 season. Hutton secured the deal after spending four months as a free agent and recently completing a professional tryout agreement with the team.
Hutton spent the 2025-26 season with the Vegas Golden Knights, tallying 15 points in 55 games. He previously spent his first four NHL seasons in Vancouver from 2015-16 to 2018-19, posting 70 points across 276 appearances after being drafted by the club in 2012.
