The Chicago Blackhawks head to Tampa Bay on Thursday night still seeking their first road victory of the season against the Lightning. Dave Melton previews the matchup by examining the Lightning, arguing that the franchise appears to be a fading dynasty approaching an inflection point between staying competitive and initiating a rebuild.
Melton highlights Tampa Bay's aging core, including thirty-somethings Victor Hedman, John Carlson, Jake Guentzel, and Brayden Point, alongside goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy. Compounding the situation, team scoring leader Nikita Kucherov reportedly requested a trade due to stalled contract negotiations ahead of unrestricted free agency next summer.
