The Story in 60 Seconds

West Bromwich Albion captain George Campbell is close to agreeing to a new contract to reward his strong performances, head coach James Morrison confirmed. The 25-year-old United States international centre-back has started 12 of the Baggies' 14 Championship matches this season, having originally signed a four-year deal from MLS club Montreal in July 2025.

Campbell will miss Saturday's match against Millwall after sustaining a groin injury during Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Southampton. Morrison indicated the defender faces 10 to 12 days on the sidelines, which will also rule him out of both legs of the United States' Concacaf Nations League quarter-final against Haiti.
